Sports is passion, too much of it can't hurt

Hello everyone, Happy Friday!

Hope you’ve had a fantastic week as we have so far. Tonight is Party for Nature night and the Sports for Earth Team is ready to go. The party will be hosted by Tattoo Bar and we expect large crowds tonight as the weather Gods are cooperating, forecast if upper 60’s and sunny for today, not bad! Party for Nature tonight benefits and amazing Alaska Wilderness League, a green charity that does very effective work to protect Alaska’s wildlife, which is very threatened at this point.

Please stop by if you are in DC tonight, Tattoo Bar is at the corner of K Street and 14th, we promise you’ll have a good time and with your presence, you will be helping nature directly. A win-win situation.

Just as a small example of the immense power of sports, I read the other day a blog note about how Leonel Messi created a Facebook page and got over 7 million Likes in less than 7 hours. Here’s the full blog: http://sports.yahoo.com/soccer/blog/dirty-tackle/post/Official-Messi-Facebook-page-gets-nearly-7-milli?urn=sow-wp637.

That is incredible and just shows us that millions of people in this world live to enjoy sports. Work just gets in the way, but watching and playing sports and going to stadiums to support your favorite team is the true passion, a passion that makes us jump in joy, brings tears to our eyes, and affects in one way or another the way we feel for days and even weeks.

Just imagine what would happen if we really start harnessing this huge super power and passion to save the planet, to help endangered species of plants and animals, and to help nature recover on a major scale. The change would be substantial to say the least!

At Sports for Nature that is our mission, to harness the power of sports to help nature. Simple as that. That is our daily guiding principle and we enjoy every minute of our job because we get to watch and play a ton of sports, and apply our passion of sports towards our work. For that, we are grateful and lucky! Go sports and green!

Hope you all have a great weekend and hope to see you tonight at Party for Nature! And remember, keep playing and enjoying sports, you can never do too much of that!

In sports,

Jorge Morera
